A day out with Tetra Pak to experience Eye on Malaysia

Getting to know Swedish inventions and an exhilarating joy ride on “Eye on Malaysia”

40 children thoroughly enjoyed themselves recently when one of the SHELTER’s partner in the ‘Feed-A-Child’ programme i.e. Tetra Pak Malaysian & Singapore, took them out for an educational exhibition called “Improving Life – The Design of Swedish Innovations” at IKANO Power Centre located at Mutiara Damansara.

The children were shown some 65 products and systems ranging from simple, ingenious objects to advanced, pioneering technology, from baby carriers to mobile telephony and even satellite navigation systems. It was really interesting to learn how Swedish intelligent ideas are developed from basic, obvious needs in symbiosis with a language of form and design. Tetra Pak which set up a side exhibition at the site also held a special sale of carton drinks of various leading brands bundled together for RM 5 with all the sale proceeds going to SHELTER. Thank you very much to all who bought these cartons of drink to quench your thirst in support of SHELTER.

Later that evening after dinner, the children were taken to Lake Titiwangsa to experience the “Eye on Malaysia”, which is the largest portable wheel in the world. Standing at a towering 60 metres, this giant wheel that turned with colourful moving lights affixed on its gondolas truly had the children gazing in awe as they took in breath-taking views of the beautiful night skyline of KL amidst a display of laser lights and water ski show beneath them. The children certainly returned home with much stories to share as many squeals of delight and laughter could be heard throughout the whole dayTetra Pak’s exemplary commitment to protect what’s good certainly extended to more than just the packaging of liquid food – thank you Tetra Pak for your kindness and time in taking the SHELTER children out for a wonderful outing. May more corporate sponsors emulate you!
