Date: 04-Feb-2004

SHELTER 5

SHELTER 5 held their volunteers’ appreciation evening in conjunction with their housewarming party on 31 January 2004 at their new rented premises off Old Klang Road. The staff, together with the children, spent some hours cleaning, decorating, preparing food, games, a dance and a keyboard presentation for their volunteers and visitors. A total of 110 guests which included volunteers, friends, neighbours, donors, board members, children and teenagers from SHELTER 1 and 3, ex-residents, ex-staff as well as SHELTER staff came for the occasion.

SHELTER 2

The girls of SHELTER 2 waited in anticipation for their volunteers to attend the Volunteers’ Appreciation Evening on November 2003. The girls had practised hard to put together a dance and song item for them. A total of 50 guests came for the special evening. It was a meaningful time and especially heartwarming as some of the girls shared how their volunteers had helped and encouraged them. At SHELTER 2, the volunteers have helped the girls in numerous ways such as providing transports, giving hairdressing lessons, computer training, langu

age tuition and counselling them. More importantly, the volunteers have become friends and mentors, providing and invaluable means of support to the girls. Each volunteer was given a small gift as a token of appreciation for all their efforts.
