25th ANNIVERSARY

This year, Shelter is 25 years in service! We had just celebrated our Family Day on 25th March 2006 in conjunction with our 25th Anniversary.
As part of the on-going programme, Shelter will be organizing a Public Seminar For Child Care Workers This one day seminar to be held on the 6th of July 2006 at Help University College is for selected child care workers to upgrade their skills in child care and includes sessions on child behavioral management, case studies, professionalism in child care and Q&A sessions. Professionals from the field of psychology, child care and government (social welfare) will be the panelists for the day.

The highlight of our 25th Anniversary celebration will be the Charity Dinner to be held on 10th September 2006 at Sunday Lagoon Resort Hotel. The event will be graced by VIPs and some well known entertainers, Ms Jaclyn Victor, Malaysia's first Malaysian Idol, Ms Juwita Suwito, evergreen band, AlleyCats and renowned violinist, Ms Joanne Yeoh will be performing that night.

All funds and proceeds raised will go towards Shelter's various community projects, including paying for the purchase of Shelter 3 Home. This year, we are also launching our Youth Centre, DropZone, and the proceeds will go a long way in helping our 4 Childrens' Homes and Community Service projects like Prison Work and Single Mother's Support Network.

A 300-pages book on "Social Issues" is to be launched at the Charity Dinner and experts from the social work field will be contributing articles for the book.
